Halloween...EVE...2009

These are my Halloween pumpkins...not real ones, but I carved them. They are 'Funkins' that I got from one of the craft stores. Made of carvable styrofoam...they make great decorations that last year to year!

Day Trippin'...Old Skaneateles, NY

A few weeks ago, I wrote about a day trip to Skaneateles, NY with my friend Pam. I recently ran across these old postcards of a Skaneateles that I am not familiar with. I imagine that these pictures are from the early 1930's? I'm not real sure about the dates of the photos, but I can say that the charm in this little town has been preserved. It's a wonderful place to spend the day.

Serenity Sunday...week 24

(In honor of the annual LaFayette Apple Festival which is being held this weekend. The festival is in it's 37th year. )

Out the Office Window...

I work on the 11th floor of my building and the windows face south. We overlook a valley and when it's foggy, the entire view (from the far south mountains) is hardly visable. All day long, the view changes and it is truly the best view of the building. Seasonably, it is spectacular. From the first tint of spring green, the full-on green of the summer leaves, the fall riots of crimson, russet and ochre to the bare sculptural trees and white of winter, we are treated to a museum quality daily painting...out the window.

(I took the following pictures this afternoon. Cool clouds, huh? As a painter, I have a habit of looking at clouds...they amaze me...)


(The big arched roof in these pictures is the roof of the War Memorial which is across the street from my office. They hold all kinds of shows in there and it is the home of the Syracuse Crunch hockey team.)

(The squarish buildings in the picture above is the Everson Museum of Art. One of my paintings has been hung in that building.)

Serenity Sunday...week 23

A few days ago I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of the leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as the autumn air. Eric Sloane
