Along the streets,

I found weed-grown lawns

and rotted stumps
where grasses and
poplars once were,
and I wept.

This building reminds this Ozarks farm chick of the storefront in a one horse town called Filly, Mo. when I was growing up on a nearby farm. Nickel Grape Ne-hi soda, and penny candy was always a sweet treat there.
